New project: the raised beds of Great Eastern Road!

Sudbury in Bloom has taken on responsibility for the two raised beds between Great Eastern Road and the back of Borehamgate Precinct.

We have added a huge amount of soil (the tide had gone out some time ago!) and volunteer Mark Mason has selected a brilliant variety of long-lived plants to go in them.

The plants have been picked for having long seasons of interest and for being drought-tolerant - something we are considering more and more. They include tall ornamental grasses, ground cover succulents and herbs, evergreen shrubs for year-round interest, and a number of Penstemon and Salvias because we love them so much!

We hope by early next summer the planting will have filled out nicely for spirit-lifting displays!
